KASI SHANMUKANATHAN
REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER
Kasi is a registered social worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (#824209). She graduated with a Master of Social Work from Carleton University in 2012.
Alongside running a private practice specializing in perinatal mental health, Kasi is an Assistant Trainer with the Internal Family Systems Institute. She has worked in the mental health field for numerous years in a variety of settings, including family health teams, postpartum mood disorder programs and intimate partner violence agencies.
Kasi is a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist and uses both IFS and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in her clinical work. These modalities help clients build internal trust so that they can connect with their anxieties and moods with curiosity and compassion. These therapy styles also provide a safe way to process longstanding traumatic experiences.
Kasi is also trained in Intimacy from the Inside Out, a powerful form of couples therapy. She supports couples to not only shift out of their stuck patterns, but also helps each partner explore their individual histories to understand how they influence a romantic relationship.
Kasi was born in Sri Lanka, and immigrated to Canada at a young age. She has a passion for supporting BIPOC clients in exploring the nuances of belonging to two distinct cultures.
Please feel free to reach out for a consult call to see if you and Kasi would be a good fit.
